SHARP/autoSHARP - licence request

If you want to install SHARP/autoSHARP for the very first time, we need some information that will enable us to send you the correct licence information to run SHARP/autoSHARP. Please fill out the following form (required items are bold). Read the notes below carefully (especially about the interface type(s), Note 4)!

A licence is tied to your given Organisation/Department.

Please go to the relevant pages if you already have a licence and you just want to

Note 1 : please do not use abbreviations: we need the full name (within reason) - as long as it does not exceed 120 characters! Also note that there could be problems if you use very unusual non-ASCII characters.

Note 2 : please make sure this is a valid email address - it's the only way we can get in contact with you. After submitting this request, a confirmation message should be send to you automatically - if you don't receive it please get in contact with us (quoting the request ID which will be generated when you submit). We would like an email address related to your organisation, laboratory or company if possible - hotmail-like email addresses (or AOL, Yahoo or any other free/private service) are not possible.

Note 3 : please specify if you are a student, principal investigator, systems manager, ...

Note 4 : To generate a licence key, we need the system identifier(s) of the single computer you are intending to install the SERVER (httpd) on. Since a single computer can have several network interfaces, you can supply a list here with one item per line.

The required identifiers are available by running the script keyinfo.sh on the machine - this is the easiest way.

You can also get this information through the following commands (please note that if you run a non-English version of the operating system the syntax might be slightly different)

Operating system Command Example
Linux /sbin/ifconfig -a | awk '/HWaddr/{ print $1 "-" $NF }' eth0-00:9a:8b:7c:6d:5e

Mac/OS-X /sbin/ifconfig -a | awk '/^en/{i=split($1,a,":")}/ether /{print a[1] "-" $2}' en0-00:1a:2b:3c:4d:5e

If you want to run the programs on more than a single computer you will have the possibility to request additional licence keys once your licence request has been processed.

IMPORTANT :

  • please do not include a list of various machines here! It can only be a list of interfaces of a single machine if you have e.g. several network cards in the same computer.
  • do not give additional information in this field: it should look very similar to the examples given above.

Note 5 : this is the total number of processors for the machine you are requesting a licence key for.

The required information should be available through these commands

Operating system Command
Linux cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep -c processor
Mac/OS-X /usr/sbin/sysctl -n hw.ncpu

Note 6 : this could be your organisations WWW address or the home page of your department (e.g. http://www.globalphasing.com/). Please note that it needs to be a valid URL (i.e. including the protocol as well as an (optional) final slash!
